21:1) For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David.
The king rejoices in your strength, Yahua!
How greatly he rejoices in your Salvation!
21:2) You have given him his heartai??i??s desire,
And have not withheld the request of his lips.Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai?? Selah.
21:3) For you meet him with the blessings of goodness;
You set a crown of fine gold on his head.
21:4) He asked life of you, you gave it to him,
Even length of days forever and ever.
21:5) His glory is great in your Salvation.
You lay honour and majesty on him.
21:6) For you make him most blessed forever.
You make him glad with joy in your presence.
21:7) For the king trusts in Yahua.
Through the lovingkindness of the Most High, he shall not be moved.
21:8) Your hand will find out all your enemies.
Your right hand will find out those who hate you.
21:9) You will make them as a fiery furnace in the time of your anger.
Yahua will swallow them up in His wrath.
The fire shall devour them.
21:10) You will destroy their descendents from the earth.
Their posterity from among the children of men.
21:11) For they intended evil against you.
They plotted evil against you which cannot succeed.
21:12) For you will make them turn their back.
When you aim draw bows at their face.
21:13) Be exalted, Yahua, in your strength,
So we will sing and praise your power.
Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live.
When I was growing up, I had a terrible fear of wasps. It was easy to track back and find out from where this fear comes: as a young lad, I was stung and had an allergic reaction. Any time a wasp came near me, my arms flapped like their wings, and away I would scuttle. When I had children, I was not free to run if I was carrying a baby, but I had to consciously grit my teeth. Over time I came to not worry so much, realising that the wasps were not after me and, if I left them alone, they would leave me alone.
There was a television programme that was examining innate, involuntary reactions to various pictures. The subjects were wired up to a brainwave recording device. The researcher showed the reaction to a picture of a butterfly and then a hornet. The butterfly picture caused a decrease in activity with the hornet showing a dramatic spike. Similar responses were noted for pictures of a puppy and a snake. Although fear can be a totally debilitating state, just look at what happens to a rabbit caught in headlights, it is designed to keep a person healthy. Fear is designed to produce the hormone, adrenalin in preparation for fight or flight.
However, there is one fear that is vital for our wellbeing. ai???This is the end of the matter. All has been heard. Fear Yahua, and keep His commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.ai??? (Ecc. 12:13). This fear is not raised in order for a person to turn and run away, and is certainly not meant to cause a person to fight with Yahua. Our loving, heavenly Father has built this into the human spirit, which draws a person closer to Him. It is more rightly called a reverent fear. This is an act of worship and veneration to Yahua, born out of the awe and wonderment for who He is. It is the same kind of fear that an obedient child has for its earthly father, not wanting to disappoint or hurt the parent. It is, in fact, an act of love not because of who the father is or what he has done, but purely because he is the father.
In the above verse, the fear is linked to the obedience to Yahuaai??i??s commandments, not because of the fear of reprisals, but because of our love to Him. This is a fundamental position of ATC and the reason that those associated with ATC keep the commandments.
It is most definitely not in order to earn salvation!
ai???…An oracle is within my heart about the disobedience of the wicked: ai???There is no fear of Yahua before his eyesai??i??ai???. (Psa. 36:1b). When King David wrote this psalm, he was well aware of what evil people thought as there were times in his life that he chose to disobey Yahuaai??i??s ways. His lust overcame his fear of Yahua and he must have thought that he could do whatever he pleased. However, all things are known to Yahua who will not be mocked and David suffered the consequences (2 Sam. 12:1-23).
ai???The fear of Yahua is the beginning of knowledge; But the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.ai??? (Prov. 1:7). Davidai??i??s successor, his son Shlomo, when compiling the Book of Proverbs, knew well the fear of Yahua. This verse was to prove prophetic as he chose to follow the gods of his pagan wives rather than Yahua. He, too, suffered the consequences of disobedience. Shlomo is proverbially known as the wisest man to have lived and few consider him a fool.
ai???It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living `Elohiym.ai??? (Heb. 10:31). The Spirit of Yahua convicts a person of their sin and it is this knowledge that is truly the beginning of wisdom. It is a terrifying prospect for the sinner to come under the wrath of Yahua. Nevertheless, this fear leads a person to realise just how merciful and loving Father Yahua really is. ai???Surely His Salvation is near those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land.ai??? (Psa. 85:9). The realisation that one is a sinner is the first step towards Yahshua, Yahuaai??i??s Salvation.
Beloved, when one is filled with this reverent fear of Yahua there need be no other fear in oneai??i??s life. ai???Do not be afraid, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your `Elohiym; I will strengthen you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.ai??? (Isa. 41:10). For those who call upon Him as `Elohiym, there is unequivocal support.
By what are you frightened? One of the most common reasons why a person rejects Yahuaai??i??s offer of salvation through His Son, Messiah Yahshua, is the fear of ridicule or the fear of persecution. ai???Do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Hell.ai??? (Matt. 10:28).
ai???We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as the Saviour of the world. Whoever confesses that Yahshua is the Son of Yahua, Yahua remains in him, and he in Yahua. We know and have believed the love which Yahua has for us. Yahua is love, and he who remains in love remains in Yahua, and Yahua remains in him. In this, love has been made fully complete among us, that we may have boldness in the Day of Judgement, because as He is, even so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made fully complete in love.
If you want to accept Fatherai??i??s offer of salvation through Messiah Yahshua, you need to ask Him in prayer along these lines. Use your own words but they must be genuine as Father knows our very hearts and nothing is hidden from Him.
ai???Father, I am a sinner who needs forgiveness through your Son, Messiah Yahshua. Please forgive me of all my past sins as I accept that, Messiah Yahshua my Saviour, has taken upon Himself my punishment. By your Spirit, help me to live a life worthy of His sacrifice. Thank you, Father, for making this way back to you.ai???Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??
Father, we thank you for the power of your Word and that Word was made flesh in Messiah Yahshua so that in believing in His Life, Death and Resurrection we may have eternal life with you.
ai???The fear of Yahua is a fountain of life,
Turning people from the snares of death.ai??? (Prov. 14:27).
Father willing, we will gather again next Shabbat.
