Counting of the Omer ai??i?? Day 49
18:35) You have also given me the shield of your salvation.
Your right hand sustains me.
Your gentleness has made me great.
18:36) You have enlarged my steps under me,
My feet have not slipped.
18:37) I will pursue my enemies, and overtake them.
Neither will I turn again until they are consumed.
18:38) I will strike them thorough, so that they will not be able to rise.
They shall fall under my feet.
18:39) For you have girded me with strength to the battle.
You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.
18:40) You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me,
That I might cut off those who hate me.
18:41) They cried, but there was none to save;
Even to Yahua, but He did not answer them.
18:42) Then I beat them small as the dust before the wind.
I cast them out as the mire of the streets.
18:43) You have delivered me from the strivings of the people.
You have made me the head of the nations.
A people whom I have not known shall serve me.
18:44) As soon as they hear me they shall obey me.
The foreigners shall submit themselves to me.
18:45) The foreigners shall fade away,
And shall come trembling out of their close places.
18:46) Yahua lives and blessed be my rock.
Exalted be the `Elohiym of my salvation.
18:47) Even the `El who executes vengeance for me,
And subdues peoples under me.
18:48) He rescues me from my enemies.
Yes, you lift me up above those who rise up against me.
You deliver me from the violent man.
18:49) Therefore I will give thanks to you, Yahua, among the nations,
And I will sing praises to your name.
18:50) He gives great deliverance to His king,
And shows lovingkindness to His anointed,
To David and his seed forevermore.
All men commend patience but few practice it
If you asked most people what they thought the word patience meant, they would answer along the lines of passively accepting or being resigned to a delay, problem or suffering without getting all worked up.
However, I would like to put forward a more Biblically based definition: the outworking of faith.
ai???Let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.ai??? (Jam. 1:4). Why have patience?Ai?? ai???Perfect and complete, lacking nothingai??i?? is the definition of shalom that is usually translated as peace. Being perfect is not being without fault or blemish but about being what Father wants you to be. The ai???nothingai??i?? is not just for spiritual things but for all things that make life worthwhile.
Ai??ai???But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness.ai???(1 Tim. 6:11). Rav Shaai??i??ul (Paul) was giving instructions to Timothy whom he was grooming to be his successor. These were to be the visible traits of a godly man. As with all of the other traits, patience is something that had to be worked at. No-one is born with full patience, but is a result of experiencing problems. ai???knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.ai???(Jam. 1:3). Patience has a time factor involved. The longer the wait, the more patience is required, the greater the test of faith.
Ai??ai???and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Yahua will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.ai???(Jam. 5:15). This verse is one of the most often quoted verses. However, Believers take it that the prayer of faith brings about instantaneous results. There are many ministries that subscribe to ai???Name It and Claim Itai??i?? or ai???Kingdom Nowai??i?? Theology where Believers are called to expect immediate results. When nothing is seen to have happened with dire consequences, doubt sets in and any faith is destroyed. If the results are not seen immediately, then the Believer can question whether they have sufficient faith, thinking that it is faith in of itself that heals. The Believer must take notice of the second part of the verse. The prayer is effective but it must be in Yahuaai??i??s timing, He alone is sovereign. The delay between the prayer and the manifestation of the results is a test of faith and having patience is the visible evidence that a Believer trusts in the promises of Yahua, no matter what the delay.
Beloved, you should have no doubt that the moment you put your trusting faith in Messiah Yahshua, you had a place reserved for you in Heaven. Although that is now assured, you do not see the manifestation of the fact until you go home to Glory. That requires faith and patience requires you to act upon the fact of your assurance.
ai???But you, Yahua are an `Elohiym full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in mercy and truth.ai??? (Psa. 86:15). Ai??The Bible describes Yahua `Elohiym as being very patient or long-suffering. This, at first glance, seems to strengthen the dictionaryai??i??s definition. It cannot be stressed enough that it would be a grave mistake to confuse Fatherai??i??s patience with indifference. Yahua `Elohiym, in His mercy, delays His anger giving a person every opportunity to repent and seek His forgiveness through our Messiah Yahshua.
Is this you? Have you thought that Almighty Yahua has overlooked you because you have never killed anyone? Or do you not believe that He exists or is incapable of punishing wrongdoers like other false deities?
He has given, ai???His one and only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.ai???(John 3:16). He has given evangelists the Good News of salvation to preach; He has given saved friends, family and work colleagues; He may have even put people in seats next to you on the bus or train. Everything possible has been done by Yahua for our salvation.
ai???He will not always accuse, neither will He stay angry forever.ai??? (Psa. 103:9). Nevertheless, there is a limit to His patience. There will come a time when Yahua no longer charges sin against the sinner or is angry with them. This is immediately after Judgement Day or the Day of Yahuaai??i??s Wrath. When a person is alive, Fatherai??i??s patience allows for a person to turn back to Him. The moment of death, all possible choices are eliminated and a person then awaits Judgement. This may take many millennia to come about, but death is always imminent.
Some Bible commentators tell us that Yahua is outside of our normal understanding of time and space. ai???But do not forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Master as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.ai??? (2 Peter 3:8). This is usually the proof verse that is used to support this view. When the Master was arrested; tried unjustly; savagely whipped and mocked. ai???I gave my back to the strikers, and my cheeks to those who plucked off the hair; I did not hide my face from shame and spitting.ai??? (Isa. 50.6). When He was nailed to the execution stake and hung there for all humanity, He was well aware of every agonising moment. Truly, that final day must have felt like a thousand years to Him.
Even then, during His last moments, the Good News was given out to the two criminals either side of Him. One criminal looked upon the broken body and mocked. The other criminal looked upon that same broken body and saw the Messiah of Yahua and his Redeemer and believed. In His final moments ai???Yahshua said to him, ai???Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.ai??i??“(Luke 23:43). To which criminal was the Master speaking?
Yahua has done everything possible for our salvation but it is up to us ai???…choose you this day whom you will serve…but as for me and my house, we will serve Yahua.ai???(Joshua 24:15).
If you want to accept Fatherai??i??s offer of salvation through Messiah Yahshua, you need to ask Him in prayer along these lines. Use your own words but they must be genuine as Father knows our very hearts and nothing is hidden from Him.
ai???Father, I am a sinner who needs forgiveness through your Son, Messiah Yahshua. Please forgive me of all my past sins as I accept that, Messiah Yahshua my Saviour, has taken upon Himself my punishment. By your Spirit, help me to live a life worthy of His sacrifice. Thank you, Father, for making this way back to you.ai???Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??Ai??
Father, we thank you for the power of your Word and that Word was made flesh in Messiah Yahshua so that in believing in His Life, Death and Resurrection we may have eternal life with you.
The Feast of Shavuot begins at sunset tomorrow night. This will also be a Shabbat.
ai???By patience a ruler is persuaded. A soft tongue breaks the bone.ai??? (Prov. 25:15).
Father willing, we will gather again next Shabbat.
